Koreni: Agency of common people in monarchist 19th-century Serbia

Koreni is a TV show set in 19th-century Serbia. In the show, the agency of common people is important, mainly due to the specific socio-political context that evolved daily. A rather high level of tolerance is depicted in several episodes of the show, especially between the dominant Orthodox Christian majority and the considerably smaller Muslim minority. This fact seriously contributed to inter-ethnic peace and co-existence in the country at the time. The only Muslim family living in Prerovo, the village where the core action of the show takes place, is held in very high regard by the local community. The small restaurant owned by this family is the most common gathering place in Prerovo, where political, economic, and other contemporary topics are often discussed.

What are the main reasons for good inter-confessional relations? What can one learn from the common tolerance?
