Koreni: Space and spatiality

Taking into consideration that space and spatiality is a very important context in which religious co-existence is operationalised, the peculiarity in Koreni is to witness these concepts on a micro level, in a small and rural community. Tolerance literally ‘takes place’ in various locations presented in the TV show. In regard to Prerovo, there are two main locations which are usually presented: the village square where men meet to discuss politics and the small restaurant owned by Levic and his wife Bula (which literally translates as ‘a woman wearing a headscarf’) who are of Muslim belief. Both of these places present micro spatial elements of inclusion. The two locations are known for discussing politics, trade, business, economy and other contemporary topics, but also places where the villagers hang out together. This mutual interaction and exchange of information contributes to a feeling of peace and prevention of conflicts.
