Vikings: Space and spatiality
It is interesting to note that in many sequences of the TV show, the exchange of ideas, emotions, trade and feasting is done in two very common meeting spaces: the squares in the small towns, as well as the town halls. These gatherings are common during joint endeavours. For example, when the Vikings visited England, a large group was hosted by the English king and both the Vikings and the Englishmen feasted together sharing religious and cultural differences. Another example stems from the joint meetings of the different Scandinavian tribes. They usually gather either before going to raiding/war, or after coming back from these activities, marking the success of their actions. Apart from the re-occurring conflicts, these celebrations of mutual co-existence had resulted with short-term preservation of peace between the different groups depicted in the TV show.
